Ahmad Fahmy, OD, FAAO is the Founder of The Twin Cities OSD Symposium and Co-Founder of Eyes On Dry Eye. Dr. Fahmy is devoted to developing high quality education in Ocular Surface Disease (OSD) and innovative treatments to help improve the quality of life of patients struggling with symptoms of OSD.

He received his professional training and the Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry and completed residency training in peri-operative care of glaucoma, anterior segment pathology, and refractive surgery with Minnesota Eye Consultants, P.A. He earned Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry and joined Minnesota Eye Consultants, P.A. as a staff Dr. of Optometry. Dr. Fahmy is an Adjunct Faculty Assistant Professor of the Illinois College of Optometry.

Dr. Fahmy served a one-year term with the Board of the Minnesota Optometric Association. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and member of the American Optometric Association.

He has contributed to book chapters, journal articles, and case studies in non-peer reviewed and peer reviewed journals including Modern Optometry, Optometry Times, Ophthalmology Times Europe, Archives of Ophthalmology, The Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and Advanced Ocular Care.

He has lectured at educational conferences including the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, Modern Optometry Live, The Combined Ophthalmic Symposium, Minnesota Optometric Association, Eyes On Dry Eye, The Twin Cities OSD Symposium, the Philips Eye Institute, and International Congress in Lima, Peru. He has been involved in clinical care of disadvantaged populations and is devoted to continued involvement in the development of philanthropic eye care initiatives.

Dr. Fahmy remains committed to teaching and mentoring students and colleagues. He is actively involved in numerous clinical research trials and has a special interest in anterior segment disease, glaucoma, and ocular surface disease.
